Rapé Catinga de Mulata

This wonderful Rapé Catinga de Mulata is made by an old Indian woman from the Shawadawa tribe. Catinga de Mulata (Tanavetum vulgaris) is known as tansy and also grows in Europe, Asia, and North America. It’s a medicinal plant. For this Rapé the pulverized tansy leaves are added to the Moi.
This plant has a traditional medical use to treat flu, fever, and other sicknesses. This rapé is dark brown and has a relatively low ash content in it. It’s a very potent Rapé that I recommend for experienced people.

About the Tribe

Shawadawa (also known as Arara del Acre, Shawandaua, Shawanaua, Shawanauá, Shaonahua, or Shaodawa) is an indigenous group that inhabits the southwest of the Brazilian state of Acre. This tribe came in contact with Western “civilization” only at the beginning of the 20th century. The entire tribe currently consists of only 550 souls. Shawã means Macaws and Dawa means family, so they are the Macaw family.

Today, the main objective of the Shawãdawa people is to protect their lands, and their forests, where all our natural medicines are present. They are also always looking to save and maintain their culture, and the teachings of their ancestors.

I sieve this Rapé Catinga de Mulata and all other snuff coming from my shop through a 120-micron high-grade stainless steel mesh. I also store the Rapé stock dry and in vacuum containers to prolong freshness and quality.
