Serpentine Kuripe, Eagle, Jaguar & condor

Serpentine Kuripe from Peru. Cut from a single piece of black Serpentine stone. These Kuripe represent five different totem animals, Eagle, Jaguar, Condor, Owl & Snake.
Serpentine is a marble-like hard stone. This specific black Serpentine comes from the slopes of the Machu Picchu mountains. In the Urubamba valley, also called the sacred valley of the Incas, stone-workers carve the stones. After the carving, various tools are needed to get the stone into its final shape. Although some machines are used most labor is still done by hand.
